Galaxy is a gravitationally bound system of stars, stellar remnants, interstellar gas, dust and dark matter. The word is derived from the Greek glaxias, literally "Milky", a reference to the "Milky Way" galaxy that contains the Solar System. Galaxies have an aproximately a 100 million stars.
A Star is any massive self- luminous celestial body of gas that shines by radiation derived from its internal energy sources.
